First Car Audio show + termlab scores

Well I went to my first car audio show. I didn't compete because I got there late, but after seeing my scores, its a good thing I didn't. It was an excellent experience seeing all these brands people talk about all of the time, but I've only heard DC and AQ.

First, my scores, this is terrible. My voltage is only like 13.4, on top of my 02 Camry is a huge car. My back seats fold down so I was guessing I'd hit 140 no problem. Well, no.

Sealed at the dash with Air Forces, around 137.0 Da Blow was too quick to get a good reading, but I think I got like 136.5.

Sealed with numerous tones, I can't remember the hz, around 42-46, 137.9

Termlab still at the dash, driver door opened, peaked at 38 hz (WTF?!) and hit a 138.7

So I can't see why my box, tuned at 36 hz peaked at 38, and I'm shocked I didn't hit 140 with my back seats folded down. It makes sense a little that the camry has a huge cabin but ****, it's a little depressing.

On a side note, I got to see the 7th loudest in the US, forget his name, ran 2 DC lvl 18s? tuned to 63 hz with 2 massive stetsom amps hit a 162.3 sealed at the dash.

I also met ngsm with his 05 I think RE XXX with Fi recones and sat in his truck, that was insane. He was only feeding each sub roughly 900 watts and hit 150 on music, it was incredible.

Why is it surprising that your 36hz box peaked at 38hz?

I'm no expert on Camry's, but pretty much any car I see peaks in the 50's and 60's somewhere. Tune higher, and use the cabin gain to your advantage.

I only messed around for a little over 5 minutes, but I got up to I think it was 49-51 hz and still no dice. I'd have to try again, I really want to break that 140...

In my taurus (little bit bigger than a camry) I was only able to burp 141db @ 45hz all sealed up. I would think that you would easily be able to hit 140 with your setup.

I was thinking that too, I'd have to go back on the term lab with more time, I was crunched cause they were letting me do a free run before the next guys pulled in. Consider I'm only at 13.4V, and I think the cabin in my camry is bigger than a taurus (my 2 friends have them.) I even have my trunk lid dynamatted with 2 layers, but thats it for the trunk, just my two front doors also. I have a sun roof, I wonder if that had any affect as well. Either way, I was fairly confident I wouldve hit 140 with my equipment but I didn't, and a legal 137.9 isn't even close.

seal off the trunk and fire them into the cabin.
This is a daily driver, I don't intend to compete and that work isn't worth it in my car. Even without firing them into the cabin I would've guessed to hit 140.

Interior volume on a taurus is tad bigger than a camry. And the Taurus trunk is about 2 more cubic feet bigger than the camry. But all in all they're pretty similar.

Ah, well, I'll have to give it another run maybe with a higher test tone to get cabin gain. And Ron Goodings van was loud.... very very loud. I didn't even know who he was but when I saw his score, I knew he had to be somebody big. The second highest score was a 157.x, so Ron smashed that with his 162.x. I'm a little ashamed I didn't see any Sundown products. I didn't pay attention to the amps much, but I think it wouldve stood out if I saw one.

where in ohio are you? i have a termlab and I'm in Columbus. pm me if ur close and want some termlab time

getting a trunk loud takes time and understanding of your vehicle. the smallest details can gain you some serious dbs. I've had 2k+ systems not do over 140, I've had ~800wrms systems go over 140, install was the biggest factor

Cincinnati, my friends are going to Ohio State so I'll be up in Columbus a handful of times. And yeah, I totally understand what you mean. After hearing ngsms subs though, I'm already planning an upgrade once I get a set deployment date for the Airforce. Where can I buy stetsom amps and rougly how much is a 2k5e new?
