first box alot of help needed!

ok its my first try at a box. Im trying to build a ported box for a single 12 to fit behind the seat of a single cab truck. I want it to be something like this http://www.sjgreatdeals.com/xetp12.html . The thing is i need it to be able to fit a 7 inch deep sub (even if i need a spacer). My other question is how in the world do i find out how lond the port needs to be? thanks

you can bump out the sub by using an additional spacer on teh front....as you said. you can also knurl out the mdf inside the box where the magnet would hit to gain an extra 1/4"-3/8". as for as how long to make the port, that depends on what tuning freq you want and how big you plan on the box being. let me know how big it's going to be and i can help ya out.
