Firing through the back seat?

I have been running my 2 subs in my trunk firing towards the rear. sounds good but I am thinking of turning them around and trying to mount the box firing forward right behind the rear seat. will this gain output? I know if I fold down my seat it has more output but I dont want the seats down.

Dont want to leave the seat down, just dont like the looks and I dont want people thinking anything is in there. By baffle do you mean sealing the box to the opening? By subs are in a sealed box now.

I've never had good luck firing directly into the back of a seat in a vehicle without fold down seats.

Best results for the systems I've done have been rear firing or up firing.

try it and find out...

Sealing the trunk from the interior is definitely better than not sealing. However, the differences in output may vary. In my experience, a few cars made a very large difference, while in others, the difference was less dramatic. Keep in mind what the subs are firing into. Many cars have solid sheet of metal behind the seat back, not allowing much 'breathing' space for the sub.

my car has the trunk almost sealed off. my loudest setup was to have the sub box against the back seat and firing toward the rear bumper. most accurate and clean was firing directly into the back seat, but i lost the "thump"

what I have now is my favorite, and IMO, the best compromise. I have the subs at the rear of the trunk (all the way to the rear bumper) and firing foreward into the cabin

btw I have 3 tens in a sealed box

you lost the "thump" cuz the sound waves cancelled out prolly.

Can't you just cover the opening with speaker cloth like this? And just leave the seats down when cranking it up or you don't have passengers.

i'm shure he could but that lokks kinda shitty, and i want my music to sound good with other people in the car, not just me, lol

build a baffle to fit the opening in the seat! then fit the enclosure to that baffle! it will gain output and clarity. it will be a lot of work though
I am going to be doing this today with my RE SX. I will get you some pics and a vid or two.
