So basicly ive been working at home cheapo for the past two months, my aunt (which shares the same last name as myself) got hired 4 weeks after i got hired, which i knew right away was going to be a big mistake.

Anyways to make a long story short pay day last week, i asked for my check, told the lady my first name and last name and spelled it out. She handed me my envolope, i open it up and it turns out to be my aunts check. Well it just so happens that my aunt didnt like that and turned me in to the store manager, and i got fired this morning.

Ive been told i can protest it and what not but i realy dont know the legal system that much to do something about it with out some help so if anyone can lend a hand in this that would be awsome...

you're serious? is your manager some sort of idiot, or maybe been waiting for an excuse to get rid of you? sounds like your aunt is a real *****, i'd burn her house to the ground.

well maybe not, but i'd get drunk as hell, take a shit on the hood of her car and spell out **** with smeared feces.

Thing is is my aunt was realy realy good friends with my mom, they alawys did shit together and we always got along. Home depot didnt ask me if it was alright if i worked with my aunt, thats the least they could have done...i even said i dont feel confortable but they ignored that.

The question at hand is, what specifically did your aunt turn you in for?

And, what specifically were you fired for?

Leading into: Who's name was on the envelope that the check was in?

Family relationship with other employee's is typically no concern in the corporate world, so long as one family member does not directly work for the other. Large corporations usually go to great length to ensure that does not happen.

Assuming what you are saying is correct, you have ample grounds to appeal your job termination. Your case being that your store manager or payroll clerk was negligent in their job duties, resulting in your dismissal unjustly, due to circumstances not within your control.

IE: Who placed the incorrect check into your envelope, and why did they not notice this, and furthermore, why did the store manager overlook this and just terminate you?

It forces the accountability back onto the parties who are responsible for the error in the first place.

Appeal it.

You don't have to be a legal wiz to fight for your job. There are people within the company that are there for the specific purpose of helping employees with appealing unjust termination or settling other employee/employer disputes.

They work for the company, but legally they must remain non-biased unless they simply desire heavy federal penalties.

Contact your HR Department, or follow the company's approved method for appeals right away.

Unless you were terminated for another reason (IE - Work quality/ethic, etc) you very likely will stand a good chance at winning your appeal.

Good Luck!

Yea it seems like there is something missing here... The MOD or even the Store manager should be understanding enough that this was bound to happen, people make mistakes. I worked for HD for 2.5 years as a part time gig before and there have been times where they handed me someone elses check...

Time to call the DM packerfan.
