Fing Stupid Amp

Clip mother fucker, CLIP...thats what its trying to tell you.

But, what do I know.....I know that if I turn my gain 100% I will lose subs or an amp, or BOTH. Why? Clipping, yes. distortion, highly likely. Again, what do I know? Be lucky you HAVE a protect mode....if not, you wouldnt be asking why it cuts off. You'd be complaining on how shitty HiFonics is.

Heres the deal.
I have my hifonics 2005D amp pushing 2 Mjs.

Heres the problem.

When I turn the gain completly up on my amp it goes into protect mode within 20 seconds of playing music on it.

So now I have the bass eq turned completly up and the level about 3/4 to try and get the setup to be louder.

Anyone know why this is?

Also have any suggestions?
Youve gotta be kidding man...

Mojo's are dual 2 ohm each, so with two you have them wired for either 2 ohm or .5 ohm. That's the wrong ohm load for that amp. What is the ohm load you have the subs wired for? For that amp you should have them wired for 1 ohm. That will produce the most power. 2 ohm will produce only 1300 watts or 650 watts per sub. A .5 ohm load will damage the amp and cause it to go into protect mode.

Turn the eq down to zero. Learn to set your wire your subs ohm load. Learn to set gains correctly, it's not a volume knob. Stop distorting your amp.

Good call, yea .5 ohm load might be a problem as well...especially if youre trying to play music/long periods of time

hifonics amps are stable at .5 ohms //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

These are the new Mj's, they are single 4 ohm. So that means they can only be wired to 2 ohm.

How would I wire them down to .5 ohm if I was going to do that?

And where might I find out about gains?
The search button at the top right of this page. Or read the sticky on setting gains. Or google. Or post a thread. Or ask your mom/dad/teacher/role model. Write your congressman. Consult wikipedia. Put a note in a bottle asking, and then and cast it into the ocean. Or tell a friend to do it for you.

Any of those choices beats your previous method of guessing.
