Finding out someone's IP Address...

Hello everyone...I have a question in regards to a prank/test I believe was pulled on me...

In the past, my girlfriend would make up screen names and IM me acting like someone else and be flirting and all testing me to see if I would flirt back, etc etc.

Well, today she made up a screen name, and I called her because I figured it was her messing with me. Is there a way to find out if it really was her (through IP Address or something)? She has a cable connection, and so do I, if that matters. I heard that 56k users have different IP Addresses all the time, so I thought I'd mention that.

How can I really know if it was her or not? She denied it on the phone, but at the same time, I could hear her typing in the background softly, and when this new person who IM'd me signed off, a few minutes later her brother signed online. I am 99% sure it's her, but how do I catch her?

the only way for you to see if it was her is for her to physically give you her ip address. or a way i like to do it called sub7.backdoor... its a pain in the *** and really illegal but there is no way to get her IP address unless she downloads something you give her... actually you might even be able to use an IP Sniffer, but im not sure... imma go home and dig up all the old programs i used to use and see if i got anything you'd like.

lol, why not go to her house, get on her computer and do this...

start->run-> type "command" in the box->type "ip config" in the command line->hit enter

now the ipaddress\gateway\and some other stuff is listed. write the IP address down. go home, get a IP sniffer (like skep said) and sniff on port 5190 (aim) and see who sends you packets =)

if any numbers match that ip, then you know its her, if not, its some random dude who is pretending to be a girl (ahhahah) or its one of her friends.

not too hard. but you have to aquire her IP before this works...

I figured I could go to her house and get her IP Address. Then, when this person IM's me, track it down. But, I figure if I go to her house and on her computer anyway, I'll just go on her AiM and see the history of screen names typed into that computer, and just recognize the screen name used today.

I'm not at all mad, but I think it's messed up if she is doing this and lying to me about it.

Yeah, you are 100% correct. Trust is why I think she did this...and in all honesty, I can say that I'm not being a dishonest boyfriend. I'm not mad, but I need to find out the truth, and why she's doing this.

once you find her ip adress dl vnc viewer one you figure out how to use that its fun, i do it in school all the time lol you can control another computer with the one your on now, a teacher was on a computer next to the one i had control of, it was fun opening up **** then playing loud music lol

I cant even begin to say how untrue this statement is. Maybe you settle for less because either (a) you just want to for some reason, (b) you have to because you are too immature yourself to realize that there are mature girls out there, or © you simply just cant get those girls.

I love my girlfriend to death. We have a great relationship because I tell her exactly what I want, and she tells me exactly what she wants. We both agree to give that to eachother, but not at the compromise of each-others well being. She know that if she starts pulling shit like is described in this thread (not that she would) I wouldnt have it and she would be single again, instantly. And vice-versa.

u could direct connect with her on aim. Ask her to send a pic or something,

then go to start, go to run, type cmd hit enter

then from there, type netstat -n

This brings up all current connections

Look for an ip address ending in port :4443

Thats ur biatch.

Its harder to do now cuz aim has found a way to use there servers as somewhat of a "proxy" u have to go through to share files so it might not work but most of the time it does

Well, I do appreciate the help/comments.

After doing what mature people do, talk and be open, I found out that it was her. She admitted and apologized. I wasn't mad at all actually...I'm pretty understanding. I was a little upset that she did it to me, but I didn't really show it...I just told her that she doesn't need to do those things to me. She said, "Yeah, it's just I KNOW that you NEVER do anything wrong"...and guys, to have a woman KNOW you wouldn't do those things to her means a lot. I just wonder why she would do that...it's like she's looking for an argument

By the way, many women are mature and wouldn't do this type of stunt...but women do the darn-dest things when you least expect...so, I honestly feel that ANY woman would do something similar at least once in their life - it's only natural to wonder.

All in all...being open with one another and having trust worked out great. I wasn't mad, and she was glad that she didn't have a cheater boyfriend. Now it's just a matter of stopping any games/tests...
