Alright, here are some pictures I took today of the setup. Please excuse the wiring exposure, there's not much I can think of to do with it.

My first impressions after a full week of bumping: the RE10's are nice SQ subs. They don't seem to get as loud as I'd like them too, but they're decent for entry-level. SQ is good, as I mentioned.

Also, when I tried to set the gains with a DMM, I couldn't get the required voltage until the gain was cranked way past halfway. I'm not sure why, but I turned it back down and right now it's at about 2/5 with no bass boost on amp or HU.

It doesnt matter how far your gain is up, as long as you get the correct voltage...lol. You could have the gain all the way up and have the right voltage, it would just mean that the HU doesn't have very high voltage pre-outs.

Well, according to Kenwood the model HU I have has 4V preouts, which I thought was pretty decent, but I guess not. Maybe my DMM is wrong?

Also, when the gain got to around 4/5, I could faintly hear a ringing/buzzing sound coming from the amp. Not too loud, but it scared the crap out of me. Probably normal though.

But I think I'm going to up the gain to near halfway now. Where it is currently at, I'm getting a lil over 10 volts, and I need 28.6. Hopefully nothing fries, but I have my bass boost all the way down and no bass boost on the HU, so it should be good.

Just set it with the DMM, you'll be fine, stop being paranoid and send those puppies the power they deserve.

Alright, alright. Whenever I have some time I'll get out there again and set it with the DMM... I do wish it were a little louder.

But help me out here with the equation. It's confusing because it's a mono-channel amp with two sets of speakers wire inputs tha parallel inside the amp. The final voltage and ohm load I need to see is 400 watts at 4 ohms. That would be 40 volts. But, it seems like it would be different because it has two inputs.

You either wire the subs in parrallel outside of the amp or you plug each sub into each output on the amp and it goes parallel anyways, it doesnt make a difference.
