finally added my front stage, now a nasty engine whine

i think i may have to retract my previous statement. now my sony is giving me engine whine, but for some reason it wasnt yesterday. this isnt a constant whine like the pioneer was giving me though. this one gets louder with volume, and cant hear it at 0 volume. it does get louder with higher rpm's, like the pioneer. i was hungover as all hell yesterday, so i'm wondering if when i got it rigged in to test if i just turned the key back instead of started the car.

NOW what should i be looking into?

It may be a massive pain in the arse but you will have to re run your RCA cables in a completely different area, the whine is caused by the emf produced off your altenator, but you say its DC so it there is no emf produced, nah arr, the altenator is 3 phase AC corrected to DC, its the most efficient way, but i have had your eaxct problem 3 seperate times in my 3 cars, your best bet (if amps in boot) is running your RCA straight down the guts underneath your capets, there are no or very minimal cables that supply power to anything here, but as your doing it and you have to run near others try to minimise the times when the RCA is running parrallel to power, this is where it picks up the EMF disturbance best or well worst cause we dont want it, you may do all this and still have a small amount of whine (happened to me), this may be from the big bundles in your dash under the HU (your RCA will bypass big bundles of power cables, in my e36 bmw i was getting a small small whine from where the RCA ran beside the bundle for no longer than 300mm - 1ft, i arranged the cable (you may tie your RCA if you wish) away from the other big bundles as best as possible, if this doesnt fix your problem get a better car or buy a home theatre and enjoy your music there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
