fiberglassing my box after i build it

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif What are you going to do?

For the record, fiberglass is much stronger in curved shapes, and if you can use MDF for a flat surface, then do so.

are u going to build a trim ring(s) for the subs(s)?

if so, then when u strecth the fleece, it'll have that nice arched look. plenty of resin and some cat hair should make it plenty strong. just remeber to wrap some around the edges of the box to tie it all together. i think it would work fine!

what do u think ppl? will it work? i think so..that's how mine is done!

That looks awesome, mrray. :cool2:

If you are looking to simply smooth out the box, fill in screwholes and gaps, I've got a few installs on my personal page that essentially walk you through that process:

http://www.betteraudio.com/geolemon

Look in particular at the Projects Index, the Isobaric 6th Order Bandpass, and the Crazy Eights enclosure for some pics on the process.

Also, I don't use Bondo for that (or for anything, for that matter).

I use Plastic Wood brand (by DAP) filler, for it's good adhesion, low shrinkage, and easy sanding. It's meant for use with wood.

If body filler is in order for some project (such as actual fiberglassing) - skip Bondo brand, it's generally regarded as the worst of the worst. Use another lightweight body filler, such as White Lightning, or even Dynatron... really just about anything else sands easier and shrinks less over time than Bondo. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
