would i be fine to put a couple suports in the port? would it have any effect on the sound cause that would make it a tiny tiny bit smaller

use dowel rods in the port.

x3 on resin/fg being a waste for a daily box. For your corners simple 45's glued in place would have been much easier, cheaper, and stronger...
