Fiberglass Question

Well me and my buddy did some fiberglass for the first time in his trunk.

We finished and everything looked fine, then we realised that we really screwed up the mixing ratio of hardener to resin, like WAY less hardener then we should have used, maybe 13 drops for every 8 or 10 oz's.

Is this a really big problem, and if it is what should i do about it?

you could always put another layer of glass on it. does the structure seem strong?

Yeah, it seems jelly like i guess. Its been about 5 hours since we finished putting about 3 layers down.

You will just have to wait a longer period

u can try using a heat gun to spead up the process. the less u put the longer it will take do at least feel some heat rising from the peice? if u do then its curing if not do a nother layer with more hardner.

As long as it will dry at some point in time.

Its in a heated garage also, would it help if i turned the heat up?

it wouldnt hurt... hold ur hand ontop of the glass peice do you feel heat? if u do its curing u just have to be alil patient.

Ok, i just checked it.

After 18 hours of drying it still feels gooey and i feel no heat whatsoever coming off of it.

What should i do?!!

This isn't my car and i need a solution today.

I would mix another small mixture of resin with a high mek content like 3% and brush it over quickly . should help activate the under layer. still might take 24 hours or so to dry though. I did the same thing my first fiberglass project. took 72 hours to dry LOL.

lol wow 72hrs... mix a qwik batch with a good amount of mekp alil extra. mix and lay it qwik b4 it hardens in ur container. that should help bigtime

Ok i mixed up a batch with about double the needed hardener and used that to lay one more layer of mat.

I let it dry for about 7 hours and it felt pretty hard, my buddy needed his car so we had to take it out.

It ended up poppin out pretty easy and held its shape nice.
