Ugh, last question //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I have my fiberglass box with the fleece resined up, and 1 layer of fiberglass, till I find out the volume and cut in the port...

But in the end, how many coats am I going for? It will be a 12" sub with 1000WRMS.... if that matters.

I was told 7, but does that include the fleece? cause thats about as thick as 2 layers?

that can be a very vauge(sp) question, it dependss n many factors, first of all, what i see used most often, primarily for sub enclosures is speaker box carpet or trunk liner carpet used instead of fleece, this is used because it soaks up much more resin and becmoes incredably strong when fully cured, and depending on the application sometimes only a small amount of areosil power is needed to strengthen the box from the inside

now in your case it depends on what size fiberglass your going to use and how thick your fleece was, you'll want to give the entire surface a really good scuff b4 you apply any resin or glass to it making sure to get proper bonding, but in your case im gonna say try 4-5 layers of 2oz chop mat and see how that turns out, you may need more you may need less, i would need to see it to know, try 4 layers and use a fiberglass roller on everything to remove any air bubbles and any extra resin.

its not the resin thats going to give you strength, its the glass, only a few layer of glass tightly compact together with barely enough resin to bond everything together will be stronger then the same amount of layers with extra resin added, or pools of resin, or any air bubbles in between layers

it needs to be enough to wear u feel confortable that when u stand on it, it wont break.
