Hello everyone. I'm in the process of building a small budget system and I want to get the Fi X 12" as my sub in a sealed enclosure. It will get power from Crescendo 1000C4(~500W bridged). I know that the recommended enclosure size ranges from 0.6-1.1 cuft but I don't know if I should go with a larger(1.158 cu ft.) sealed box or a smaller one(0.749 cu ft.). Both boxes are pre fab from sonicelectronix. I listen to dubstep, rap(eminem) and rock. I want the sub to have good amount of output and produce good lows. So which enclosure is right for me? Also, how would the Fi X Series 12" compare to Image Dynamics IDQ12 V3? Will I be able to hear a difference between these two subs assuming both are in recommended enclosures? IDQ gets recommended a lot for sealed enclosures but it costs a bit more than I want to spend. Are there any other subs in $150-180(shipped) range that work well in sealed enclosures? Thanks in advance!

I have looked into them but could not find any recommended box specs. Do you know how much space is needed for 10" or 12" Epic?
If you email them they will send you a layout. I would guess anywhere From

2cu ft to 2.25 @ 32 hz

The epic is an awesome sub and will outperform the fi x in just about every way.

I can't do ported. It would take up too much space in my trunk. But I will defiantly email them to find out sealed box specs. Btw do you know their email? They have a terrible website with no info on it. That alone makes me question the company.

The company has A very good rep. I think they just launched a new site so that could be why there

Isn't much info. Try contacting them through partsexpress.

From what I heard AQ subs are not that great in small sealed boxes.
he probably forget that it said that in the original post.

op, pm pro-rabbit on here about the AQ's. he will tell you how they do in certain enclosures and what not. hes a little too close to AQ...........//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/sneaky.gif.7189749b3a3f769e8815b47e8ae87f88.gif

So I talked to partsexpress about the Epic 12". They recommend 0.75-1.0 cubic feet enclosure for the Epic 12"(that's including the 0.141^3 ft of the sub). The tech recommended me to go with smaller box because the cabin gain of my civic will increase the output of Epic 12". Does that sound right? I've done some research on the epic and several people recommend using bass boost to increase the output of the sub. Will that result in bad sound quality? Also, the Epic has a Qms of 7.80 which is quite high compared to other subs that I looked at. Let's say I don't like the way the Epic sounds in a sealed enclosure and decide to go ported. Will the Epic sound bad in a ported enclosure because it has a high Qms? What will be louder an Tc Sounds Epic 12" running off ~350 W or Fi X 12" running off ~350 W assuming both are in a 1.0^3 ft box?
