Fi Q 15" Box.

i posted this on SSA, but this forum moves much faster...

i need to decide on a box. im thinking of tuning to 30hz but not sure on volume. i played around on subwoofer tools and came up with a couple designs.

then i was thinking about tuning to 28hz but im not sure on what i could expect (never owned/heard a box tuned that low). would i be sacrificing upper end freqs? i do listen to rap 90% of the time, so itll be playing alot of lower notes, but there are a few songs where the bassline isnt that low.

Edt- the box for mine was..

16.5"H x 24"W x 24"D, 4.395^3ft gross box vol. Slot port, 15" x 3" x 35.5"Long tuned @28Hz. After displacement, 3.096^3ft net.

I have a JL W3 in a box tuned to 27 hz, and it smashes the lows and stills sound clear and full through the upper bass octaves. The Q is a sound quality sub and I'd say it should have no problems with 28 hz, but I am by no means a Fi expert. So if I'm wrong someone please fill me in.

just did a box for a buddy of mine with a q 15 did 4 cubes at 28hz and from what he said it sounded awsome... but he wanted a lil more output so he went with a XXX 18

yeah, i dont want to sacrifice too much spl for low end. should i just go for 30-32hz?

I think less volume and a higher tuning woulda fit me much better. I listen to mostly rock though, very little rap

i think i may tune a bit higher but im almost set on the 30hz.

but ,would that box work for a sub up port back app? or does it not matter? there is enough clearance in that last design for it to fit top mounted, but is there more to it than that?

took measurements today and came up with this-

itll fit perfect between the spare tire and the wheel well and stay below the window line.

are my numbers are good? i got about 15.5 sqin of port per cuft with a 40in long port.
