Few Type R Questions

I am planning on getting a single 12" Alpine Type R sub, but have a few questions before I buy.

1) Should I get DVC 2 Ohms or DVC 4 Ohms? What is the difference? They are the same price btw.

2) What would be the best way to wire this subwoofer to get good SQ and SPL?

3) What amp under $200 would give me the best sound for the money?

Also, why does the Type R get so much hate on these forums?

1) It all depends on the amp you have or plan on getting

2)Wiring has nothing to do with sound

3)Good budget amps are HiFonics, you can get for under $200 if only pushing that sub

Figure out what amps you would like to run then figure this out. If you get a 4dvc you can wire it down to 2 ohms, just about every good amp out there will run at 2 ohms.If you get a 2dvc it can be wired down to 1ohm, handful of amps out there will be stable at 1ohm. I personally run the Alpine Mrd-1005 (1000w digital amp) with a 4ohm sub wired down to 2 ohms.

Also, why does the Type R get so much hate on these forums?Theres nothing wrong with Type R's. They kick *** for the money you shell out. Problem lies is that KIDS here are ignorant.
.....

DVC 2 0r 4 will depend on what amp you buy...Most mono amps (read MOST) are stable into a 1 ohm load, so there for you would need a DVC 2. Or if you had a 2 channel amp most of them are stable into a 4 ohm bridged setup (Still MOST 2 channels not all) you would still need DVC 2. for DVC 4 you can either wire it up to a 2 ohm or 8 ohm load, so that takes care of an amp that is stable down to 2 ohms....

Sry for the confusing post. its hard to explain things like this via type written word so here is a link...

For Dual 2 Ohm VC

For Dual 4 Ohm VC

http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/wiringwizard.asp?WoofQty=1+woofer&WoofImp=Dual+Voice+Coil+-+4+ohms+x+2

Next...Some people agree that wiring a subwoofer in series yields better SQ, but honestly only a highly trained ear could pick up on these slight nuonces in the sound.

Also for an amp. With that budget look into hifonics, they do near rated power and they are fairly cheap.

Finally for the hate on the type R, Most of us hate the type R because it is a bandwaggon sub that everyone bought after Team Phat Hertz (MECA SPL Team that frequents the Forum) had such great success with the subs. and yes in their own right, for the price and the numbers that they have been proven to hit (in the right enclosure...you cant beat them.

Really?
Would the Hifonics Titan TXi 7506 A/B Amp be better? http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6556.html

It will work but I would rather have a Class D mono amp that does 500 true watts RMS @ 2 ohms.

Mono amps are specificaly designed for subwoofers and multiple subwoofers. They heat up way less then a Class A/B amplifier therefor they are also more efficient.

You can overpower the Type R's,some give theirs up tp 1000w RMS per Type R.
