Feedback on this SUV

Buddy has an SRT8 Jeep Cherokee and is very nice! Was already fast from factory and has done some engine work to it and has it in the 11's, which is nutz for an SUV. Fast as fawk, comfortable, nice looking and can haul the kiddies around. He keeps trying to sell me his for 25k, which is a steal with the work he has put into it.

I could, but there goes my savings for the house.....well half my savings.

 
Jeeps get used. That would be why you see them for so cheap on craigslist. Would you pay more then 800 for an early 90's jeep with 170k?

meh.watever i guess that came off wrong.i didnt mean there shitty cars. when they went to the fourth gen body style they runined it imo.

you can run a 4runner to the ground.itll outlast a cherokee any day.im talkin about 90's cherokees not a wrangler or any of that shit.the trannys shit out all the time and crap goes wrong with them left and right.

 
I'm understanding you now. I somewhat agree. Things are becoming prettier then they are useful. That works out well for some people who like looks and ruins it for the other that want a solid vehicle for whatever purpose the might use it for.

 
since i actually own the model jeep you are interested in I feel i should put my 2 cents in...my jeep has caused me tons of problems but i still love it as hard as that is to understand. I have replaced the transfer case ($1600), brakes ($400) and A/C ($500). Mine is the 4x4 v8 limited edition. I've taken it off road on some pretty steep terrain and it handled it fine. Its a fun car to drive and i love the way it looks. Downsides are the gas mileage and potential problems you will run into. Just make sure and get a good mechanic to look at it thoroughly before purchasing anything. Especially check the brakes to make sure they aren't warped and the transmission for sure. here is my jeep...

Ok. So we dont like to beat the hell out of something thats sticker was 30k+? What past 1990 is for wheeling? Nothing. Anything is going to need some mods done to be suitable for what you" might call wheeling.

Stay far far away from the WJ (99-04). It is a POS vehicle after 45k miles. The doors quack when locking/unlocking. The brake pads last about 10k miles. Rotors warp after 2 sets of pads. Rear gate lock ceases. Fuel filter is hard to replace. Radiator fans usually die at about 75k miles.

That is just a short list of issues I have had with a WJ.
