I need you input on a situation that I have to deal with or proposing. I print 30,000 copies per issue and printing, transportation, consultant cost, distributor cut, wholesaler fees is killing me. I give 25,000 to the distributor for the newstands and I keep 5,000 for promotions. What I get from the cover is about 50% percent of the net sale and broken down in 6 month time. Overall at the end of an issue I look at nothing in return and it gets tiring after a while. My new idea for this magazine which I did a double page spread announcement is:

Take it to the net but instead of 4 issue per year, I would do 5 plus all the underground videos on the NYC underground car audio game (battles, sh*t talking, gossip, custom installs and so on...plus coverage of some of the magazines' business like going to shops, manufactures and backyard install guys. Discounts on local events and at the end of the year the subscriber gets a print hard copy of all five issues.

What do you think? should I do it? It would save me a sh*t load of money.

Yup.

It's not like I revisit old news all the time...

I read it once through, maybe more in depth a second time... and I'm done.

There's PLENTY of stuff I can browse online for free... I wouldn't pay for an online issue... magazines such as a hard copy are something to read on the shitter or on a trip...

That is fucking ****.
What guy likes drama? Not real men.

I think you're confusing the sexes here... it's WOmen who love drama...

What I mean is that people like the shit talking, beef, nose to nose competitions and so on... well here in NYC. Just an observation

I don't know but I have always heard that people are interested in what happens here but maybe not? At this point it's still national distributed and the following issue as well, just wanted to get some opinions.

Do all of the issues actually get sold, off the actual stands?

Also... 25k... doesn't seem like a lot nationally... any other magazine you could compare that type of volume to?

Your right 25K is not DUB status but I started national in my 5th issue with 5000. It goes by the order of the wholesalers. 6th issue went 7500, 7th 15,000, 8th 25000 and now nineth 30,000. I guess it's baby steps but every magazine starts small. I can't really compare to many other ones except for Plush. No, not all the issue get sold, only 28% sell according to the distributors and according to them and other publishers that I know, average is about 27%-32% for a mag
