fbi90909's TC LMS 5400 15 + Saz3000D rebuild + fiberglass

back from Indiana. man, 23hr straight drives can really wear one out. everything was good and saw a lot of family i haven't seen in ages. my uncles funeral went well and may he RIP. was a good man.

i'm pretty tired(got it at like 10am) so i won't be on much for the day. i got a lot of stuff to clean up around the house. tomorrow i will think about working on the build but i may take the day off again as i'd like to get a good rest. i go back to work work on tuesday so the build will really slow down.

i think i have an idea as how i'm going to redo the sub panel. just need to figure out how to have it sit in place while fleecing. :/

update when i get out the shower. a bit of a lot was done while i was banned.

well since the first sub beauty panel wouldn't work when the sub was in and my frustration going over me to a point where i damaged the panel up pretty bad i ended up setting myself back to having to restart the beauty panel again. this time i had to di it from a different approach. the first one was made so that the sub would "pinch" the panel in place but in reality if didn't want to.

so in hopes to get the panel to sit in place i cut the flat trim that was supposed to be sandwiched in place and attempted to slip it over the sub. after a good hour and a half of trying to get in it place i took my rage out on it.

so i took a break and set the build aside as i needed to think of a way that i can reate a beauty panel that will slip over he sub that isn't permanent. the reason why i can't perma mount the beauty panel is if i ever need to access my coilovers i would be able to with a removable panel.

so what i came up with was to make a sub ring that was set as the size of the outer edge of the speaker. then i'll temp mount the ring onto the box, then fleece it, then remove it. with a ring set, i could then slip that over the sub when mounted.

overall that is what was done this week. i had work this whole week so it pretty much took me all week.

i'll explain as i go.

taped surround so i can mark the placement of the speaker on the enclosure

clearance that may be an issue for the new ring

you can't really see it but the sub top assembly is IN the cut hole for testing. needs a little sanding but it's a snug fit.

mounted the top assembly back in place

test fitting the ring i know the outer area of the ring isn't perfect nor pretty but i could careless. it's a portion that won't be visible to anyone. plus i just wanted to cut the ring out lol. OHH!!! i forgot to mention. the ring was made out of 1/2" MDF

this was a tricky area. i had to sand the top portion of the ring to be thin so when the sub was actually mounted it still has enough clearance to slip over and between the rear dash.

so my idea of mounting the ring was to add a mass amount of hot glue to the back of the ring. i predrilled and mounted 4 screws onto the ring so they can clamp the ring in place to allow the hot glue to cool down.

first after i set the hot glue i let it all cool down.

with the hot glue hardened i began to run the screws to at least hold the ring in place. with it in place i took my heat gun and began heating the ring one section at a time to melt the hot glue then tighten down the screw to clamp the ring down.
