fbi90909's TC LMS 5400 15 + Saz3000D rebuild + fiberglass

got a total of 5 layers on the sub panel right now.

i ended up running out of my uscomposites resin. i was pretty sad about it. but earlier today i knew i was going to run out so i bought a small container of Bondo resin to work with for the night.

man, i have to tell ya. there is a night and day difference between the 2 resins. and i really gotta say, i don't recommend bondo resin for SHIT. it's tooooo thick. i found myself using at least 8-10oz's to do 1 layer with bondo opposed to 3-4oz's for one layer with the b440. the work time given with the b440 is much longer than the bondo. i have like 10 minutes or work time per batch. and i had to lay that shit on thick. pain in the ***.

anyways, the majority of the glassing is done for the sub panel.

tomorrow i plan to dis-mount the basket and glass 1 layer onto the flat ring under the current basket. after that's done i'll then trim everything up and remove the panel. if all goes well i should be putting on body filler and quite possibly sanding tomorrow. got a lot of work left but i'm getting close!

alright much work done today. would have been done a lot earlier but i got side winded again with having to work on some guys car.

anyways i'm tired so i'll just start with pics with their explanations

the glass work from last night. thumbs up!

started with trimming a little bit of off and removing the basket. c-clamps first

the basket managed to get glassed in place lol, so i have to "chisel" it out;

basket out

well i had to "harden" the underside lip of the fleece for the basket so i had to staple it back down to the box

resined the area and added a few patches of glass on the bottom and top section where i couldn't get to when the clamps where in.

after that was done i started out with taking the side seat sails and test fitting them in place so i could extend the glass panel to ensure me the panel will cover all areas

marked my areas

before glassing the extension i wanted to remove the beauty panel so that when i do do the extension i will be sure that it'll come out easy. orying my way around

overall, the panel was a damn pain. i ended up getting 2 wrinkles and some how glue managed to surface through the suede in certain areas. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif i'll let it stay like that though. not too big of a concern though not bad for a first timer working with suede and semi complicated shaped panel.

time for the amp beauty panel to get covered

i thought i had a finished result pic of that panel but i didn't. i did take a group shit of all the panels being done.

well!!

tomorrow/today! INSTALLATION!!!! woohoo!. i got a lot of wires to run and a number of wires to extend. i also have to relocate my kinetik but that should be quite quickly, i hope to get an early start and i hope to get all these wires set. i also gotta try out my ktx-100eq for my 9887.

i have a going away party to go to at like 6 so i hope to be done by then.

a lot of hard work has been put into this build. hopefully it will pay off.

oh yeah, here is the very first thing i did with my new camera as soon as it was charged. my first vid!

Coming along nicely!! I may have missed it but when is this supposed to be done?
i gave an ETA of the 15th. i had thought i wouldn't have it completed by then cause of my set backs with working on another persons car. but i think i may make it lol
