I must arm myself to fight youby making weapons out of my imperfections.

To me this speaks to how people use the process Freud called sublimation wherein one attempts to harm others in defense of their own insecurities. You really don't fight another person, you just fight yourself as the world just acts as a mirror for which you are supposed to learn from your own behavior. Because the ego is so powerful, many never actually discover this.
