How do i use s-video to connect my computer to my tv

I have an svideo cord plugged into my tv and my laptop it is on the proper AUX channel. I press function+f4 and all my computer screen does is flash blank for a sec.. Am i doin it wron? Is there another way?

You might have to make your video card on your computer a bit. Mine has this thing where it has two boxes 1 and 2 or you make 1 really wide.

IMO it is worthless. Text doesn't show up well on TVs for some reason.

I have also heard that if you want to do this DVI is the only way to go. The 60$ price tag on a small piece is hard to cough up though..
