I once had a 4.1 and sold it after a week of having it in the car; I couldn't stand having dual volume controls (between the HU and the EQ). I did, however, like the fact that it could be tweeked from the driver's seat.
With that said, for those of you who use trunk-mounted, set-it-and-forget-it EQ's, how do you set your system's flat? Using what source material? Do you then tweak using simply bass/mid/treble on your HU, depending on the source?
