Is Pyramid still crap? Just saw a 1600W amp for $117 Buy Me Now, and it reminded me of the good ole' days, when this is what all the beginners ran (was about the only entry-level stuff available).

In a word - Yes.

Well, for car audio gear, anyway...

I have a Pyramid Phase III Gold Series power supply that I use for bench testing and running mobile cb equipment indoors that I have had for several years and it's never given me a second's trouble.

But, yeah, I'd avoid their audio gear.

I wouldn't buy it. $117 for a 1600w amp seems a bit cheap. Probably not the best quality amp around.

I had no intentions of buying it. I saw it on there, and wondered if they'd come up any in the last 10-12 years.

that amp probably wouldn't produce no where near 1600 watts anyways

id say closer to 400, maybe 500 under perfect conditions

exactly that...entry-level beginning stuff.

even if i started out new to the audio world (well i just did, this is my 1st system, sig below) i'd advoid it at all costs.
