The vast majority of installs, including high powered setups, would be just fine with 12 ga. Using 8ga is purely for aesthetic reasons. If you think otherwise, you are just fooling yourself.

you gotta use the 4/0 speaker wire with the size adapters or you are going to lose power - make sure you inline a cap on the speaker wire too!!
