My god this will be a epic pwnt, and you brough it on yourself. I may have not used the original V1, so I dont care at this point. The V1SE2 i have in my car is doing its job, thats all i can say. You keep saying eDead is roofing material, asphalt, they **** blah blah blah. But your preaching about something that no longer exists. I am defending the version I have in my car, thats been on for 2 years in the hottest and shittiest weather in Chicago.
You can only bash the old stuff, and thats your only valid defense. When someone creates a thread about their new deadener, you will post the same shit like always:

its asphalt

they ****

they rob people

its roofing material

When in all, its a OLD product, key word OLD. So what do you have to say now, your homies Rudy and Fox Pro can only go as back as the V1SE2. But they cant say anything about the new stuff, since neither of them have tried or used it. I have (if you want to call it this) the old V1SE2 in my car and its still there, and doing its job. So I can go ahead and say that the new stuff is better, since the "old" doing well in my car, and why would ED downgrade a product. And you, FoxPro, Rudy, James Bang can all argue with me on the v1SE1, cool lets throw down then lol.

But neither of you guys can bash the new stuff since none of you intelligent gentlemen have ever used it.

What you fail to see is that none of us bashed the new stuff. We simply left it out as we don't wtf it's made of. And if eD posted it, I'm not sure I would believe it.

Even if we DID bash the new stuff w/o ever using, wouldn't we be on the same level as you defending the new stuff w/o ever using it?

Yeah I really didn't understand the whole w7 looking basket and the similar cooling methods on the original Av2 prototype.

I mean, they could have easily used a completely different looking basket and I bet noone would have even noticed the similar cooling method.

I did buy a 13Av2 new for 250shipped when they first introduced them. It seemed like a hell of a sub for the price so I jumped on it. I then sold it before I could use it. It seems like every time I buy something then right before I want to use it something comes up and I have to shell out some money. Then I end up having to sell my shit.

Oh well, I better get back to work......which means I will do something for a few mins and then be back to browsing the forum. LOL

Don't know why your fatmat would be coming up. I have had mine in there for quite some time now and looks like it the day I layed it down.
I will say that the logo does turn your hands bluish,purplish, but it is nothing but their logo stamped on after it rolls out.........or as Rudy thinks, it is PS with a fatmat logo, lol!

It may look like it did the day you laid it down, but it is almost certainly not the same. Asphalt is flexible because it contains VOCs. If all of the VOCs outgas before the prodcut melts, you will have a stable but completely rigid material that has even less damping effect than it did when it was new. Naturally the aluminum foil looks the same as it did when new.

Whether or not FatMat is "technically" a roofing product, I can guarantee that the batches run on the same machinery before and after it were indeed roofing products. The critical point is that it is rubberized asphalt. Asphalt has a very low melting point. Rubber compounds are added to increase its heat tolerance - thus rubberized asphalt. Rubberized asphalt is spec'd to withstand 180²F for 30 days. Longer exposure or higher temperatures require butyl in construction. Both time and temperature are critical. Increase the temperature and the time decreases. Increase the time and the temperature decreases. The reason for this is that the rubber compounds degrade over time at temperatures below 180°F.

Your astonishment at reported failures is akin to not believing you got lung cancer from smoking because your grandfather smoked a pack a day for 60 years and then was hit by a bus. His experience doesn't "prove" that smoking is safe any more than your experience proves that rubberized asphalt is durable in a car. People drastically underestimate the temperatures this stuff gets exposed to. They measure the air temperature inside a car, see that it doesn't get above 150²F and wrongly conclude they are safe. In fact, it is very easy for the sheet metal t get to 180 which is, after all, where we put this stuff.

Early in this thread, Jacob from Sundown related his own sad experience with asphalt products. Wat he didn't say was that his installation technique was bordering on the compulsive. If anybody deserved t be rewarded for their diligence, he did.

You can kid yourself all you wnat that your FatMat is completely different than Peel & Seal. I've held both in my hands at the same time and run them through a series of tests, side by side. I promise you that they behave in exactly the same way except that the P&S had BETTER adhesion strength.

I just saw your post on ICIX requesting samples. What you asked for is NOT sufficient. I specifically said I needed enough to cut 3 6" squares form - not the 3 6" samples you asked for or even 3 6" squares cut out by someone else. I withdraw my offer. You sir are a tool.
