fatmat or edead 45?

Neither, fatmat is nothing more than peel and seal with a blue logo on it and should never be used in a car.

Edead is just not a good product in any way.

Go for second skin

what makes SS damp any better than fatmat? from what both their sites say fatmat and damplifier are the same thickness......

to answer your question OP this is like with all audio. there are guys that have used fatmat and say its just as good, guys that use edead and say its good, and guys that use SS and say its good. raamat is another good one........

from what ive read the most SS damp pro is most expensive but you cant go wrong, fatmat is good for budget installs, and some hate ED for other reasons and will bash their product no matter what. there are a few good installers over on DIY that love ED and have had no problems.

Because fatmat is asphalt based and should not be used in a vehicle, on top of that is mass loading properties are terrible compared to almost any other deadener. Thickness is not everything.

So using SS you will have to use FAR less to achieve the same results, and you dont have to worry about it failing due to heat and or its poor adhesion ability.

Edead suffers from inconsistency, I regrettably installed some edead in one of my vehicles. The mylar backing (which is a terrible substitute for a foil backing) peeled off the "butyl"

raammat is a good deadener, if your on a budget that is what I would suggest. If you cannot go wrong with second skin.

Is this Rudy just swaying yet another guy or what?

I will recommend fatmat.........have had it in my car going on 2 years now with no problems what so ever. Have it on my doors, floors and rear quarters, the rest is secondskin damp. Seems to be holding up just as well as the damp and I have the fatmat in the areas in my rear quarter where it rattles the most and it has helped a ton.

Also have you used fatmat before or peel and seel? Or just playing the broken record of what Rudy says?

For the money, I see nothing wrong with it and I would buy more. I don't care what Rudy or the other guru's say, it has worked in my case. I have yet to really come across any deadener that don't do the trick and I have used many from expensive to inexpensive. Only bought the secondskin due to the reviews and honestly can't tell a dam difference. It was eaiser to install is all I can think of, but did slice my hands up pretty good.

I am sure most will go against the post, but I don't care. I have done plenty of deadening isntalls and have not had one fail on any brand I have used and all have helped quiet down the rattles, which is what they were looking for.

I guess if you have the money, do secondskin......or Cascasde, if not nothing wrong with fatmat......just make sure you do the prep and install it right and it will work. These people that have had bad luck, just don't prep and install it the right way IMO.

how would you go about prepping? i have some nashua 357 spray adhesive that i need to get off my decklid before i can apply this.. you guys got any ideas on how to get this off?? goo-gone takes literally all day.

i have used both in my car and both are still holdin fine. doin a couple layers of fatmat today on my roof. and its going on 2+ years

i have edead in my front doors, rear deck, and %60 of my trunk walls and floor. there was a noticable difference may not have been for the best but for the money i spent, i was pretty happy with the results. i should pick up more at some point.

I'm in the middle of deadening my truck right now

i like to use eDead on my floor(because it blocks sound well but understably less adhesive) but for $100 bucks on ebay can't go wrong. and then butyl based raam mat on everything else, on top of that im adding a layer of ensolite all over and some crate foam on the back walls of the truck

There is some stuff called "Goof-off" from the makers of goo gone, it will dissolve it instantly.

Out of any mat I've used Second Skin is my favorite product //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif On a budget go with Raamat, IMO.
I would love to use SS but the fact is if I can get my truck completely covered with the cheap stuff, as apposed to some of it with SS. and its a little less sound proof o well.

That doens't make sense.

50% coverage with Damplifier will give you better results than 100% coverage with fatmat.

Rembmer, that Damplifier give you 25% more adhesive by weight and twice as much foil in every square foot.

Plus, Damplifier is non toxic, has no odor, and will not melt at 180 degrees like asphalt fatmat.

When performance is a priority, Damplifier and Damplifier Pro are the best value in the sound deadening industry, bar none!!
