Fat mat? Opinions?

I found a link on ebay for 100 square feet of fatmat for 115 shipped. I have a small car so I know I would be able to double up on the doors with it or the trunk but not both. I am on a budget so what else could I really get for like 120 bucks?

spend the extra 40 and get rattle trap if you put it on right it works great.

its good stuff for the price. i have a little on my car. it holds well i some spots, in others it doesnt hold as well, but thats my fault. cant say how well it will do in your car. at a dollar a sq ft its a great price.

thats what I thought. I literally dont have the 40 extra to spend on rattle trap haha. I am already at the top of my 2,000 budget and it might even go over a little.

i installed fatmat on my accord when i was being cheap. a year later i pulled it off and installed BXT II.

that it was easy to remove should be enough of an indication that it *****.

Ive used it before, it doesnt stick too well even when heated and etc. Id say its safe to use on floors maybe but it will curl up and fall off doors and trunk lids.

more importantly - it is basically a roofing product. it does not provide any acoustical damping properties and thus will not perform the desired task.

I have to disagree here. It does add a little mass and strengthen the panel. Ive noticed a good difference when using it, just it doesnt stick worth a ****.

Had it and all fell off. Was about 115* that day. Fell off doors and roof. Use AT now

i have noticed a great difference also, i have put this in multiple cars, and everybody i put it in is happy (rattletrap)

i got some 80mil on the brown paper the aluminium itself is so smooth.

AT is priced well. I used maybe 75 sq ft. Doors, roof, hatch, trunk floor all done. Roof doubled up (no reason really since stripper pole is going in) but stuff sticks great. Had it on in 110*+ weather and now its in the 30*s out here still holding great. I would use fatmat on my floors that about it.

i actually care less about the poor adhesive and more about the actual damping properties. you could use peel-n-seal and get the same effect as Fatmat. my point is that their product does not include viscoelastic and elastomeric properties - that costs more money.

the difference between a panel that is damped and a panel that has just something stuck to it - is quite noticeable.

the only reason someone uses Fatmat is because it was the cheapest product you can find on ebay. no one can argue that. my point is still valid - you are wasting your money when you could spend a bit more and get something better that will actually perform.
