Fastest Sub??? 3 questions

Is there a subwoofer out there that is considered faster than others? Is it possible to make a sub hit faster and cleaner with EQ tricks? And last but not least, is an 8" sub more capable of hitting faster than a say....12"??

"Pinkbox Special - Nice Guys Finish Last" is the name of the song. Its on the album called Creamfields mixed by Paul Oakenfold. It has a very fast hitting deep bass line. I brought the CD in to a couple stores by my place including Best Buy and Circuit City and tested a few subwoofers out with the track mentioned above. The subs I tested were the Polk MOMO's, Type R's, and the Kicker L5's and none of these subs could keep up with the bass line no matter what settings I tries to tweak. None of the subwoofers mentioned could separate every bass hit and it was an overall muddy sound. I listen to alot of music similar to the track listed above. So im looking for a woofer that has good output, hits low, and most importantly, can hit fast enough to separate all the fast bass lines in the music I listen to. Any help is much appreciated fellas.

You're referring to the sub's ability to deal with transients, not the actual frequency...

Inductance plays a key factor in determining this...you want a driver that has relatively low inductance. Also sounds like you'd be interested in sealed or IB setups.

x2 ^

A lightweight cone and a large magnet will help in keeping up with fast songs. Also, if you underpower a subwoofer you will see the sub "lag behind" on some notes, but with more power it would be able to hit those notes.

Theres a ridiculous amount of factors when it comes to reproduce notes accurately, ex box size, box design, amplifier settings, etc.

I am going to have to disagree with everything you said right there.

I'm going to have to agree with your disagreement //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I was underpowering a set of Klipsch Forte II's, by a lot...and not once did I notice them having transient response problems because of it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Not to mention, that would mean your subs would sound worse at lower volumes...

So any recommendations on a sub that has low inductance??? Im hoping to do Two 10"s sealed. I've heard good things about the Alumapro Alchemy RX line.

"The biggest and fastest submarines are nuclear-powered submarines. The Russians built some submarines they call Typhoons. These are the fastest of all the nuclear-powered submarines. They can go faster then 40 knots! (That's about 46 miles per hour.)"

Gotta be the Alfa.

This thing will literally blow other subs out of the water. Watch out Fi.
