WAIT...or another option would be to use a solid state relay instead of a mechanical relay, they do not suffer from the "back emf" that the mechanical ones do

edit: no it has nothing to do with the fans, it is just about the relay possibly messing up your headunit when turned off, the diode prevents the negative voltage from going into the remote output on the hu
that removes the possibility of anything happening

or to simplify the situation just get a solid state relay and call it good, then you dont need to worry about diodes and shiot.Diode, hmmmm?

whoa whoa.. now im all confused.. i bought one of those $6 automotive relays at radioshack and will use it for proly 4 fans and 2 cold cathode tubes..
how do i figure if im in risk of damaging anything.. these big words are killing me right now aha
