Cousin has a 93 Acura with (stock amplified) BOSE mids and highs

installed is:

1) Alpine type R

2) Stinger LOC (line out converter tapped into rear 6x9's)

3) Audiopipe 1500d

with the gains off or all the way down and music on/off the sub is constantly getting a signal to where it has excursion. If you open the passenger or driver side door the woofer goes bananas and bottoms out.

First thought was ground for the amp but checked that and everything is properly secured.

WTF?

No this sounds more like a problem with your LOC, I can almost guarantee if you were to disconnect the RCA inputs from your amp it would stop doing that. This is also why I don't like LOC's, there's a new thread on here everyday about how it's causing someone's system to do something stupid.

Or buy a quality LOC like an Audiocontrol or JL Cleansweap or the Fosgate 3sixty. Never had an issue with my 2001 S4 running a cleansweap from the bose system to a an aftermarket amp.

Buying cheap LOC will cause more problems then its worth,

This is probably also true, I wouldn't be surprised if most of the problems I read about are from people buying cheap LOC's, still not my favorite thing in the world though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Stop throwing money away on loc. you already bought one and another like above for 60 you will have almost 100 in it. You can get a decent aftermarket cd player for that. look at an alpine cda-102 or 105. or kenwood make a good cheaper hu.

I, for the record, ran a plastic yardsale pyramid LOC that I got a the fleamarket for $10 for 2 and a half YEARS with absolutely no problems. A tiny circuit board with an 18 gauge power and ground wire with a small off white plastic shell. Best $10 I ever spent for my first system.

This.

I've seen a few setups with this same scenario and no problems at all.. until now

I'm going to redo all the LOC wiring tomorrow and see if that helps any

p.s. my younger cousin has no job and is on a serious budget which is why he chose the LOC vs Aftermarket Radio

Also make sure none of your RCA shields (the outer part of the plug) are coming in contact with the chassis, that can induce noise (I know from experience)
Thanks i'll check this

I ran a loc on a single ten for a year. It sounded ok, it was enough to blend with the music, only about 100 rms on it. I put an aftermarket alpine cda 117 in, it was louder and much cleaner sounding bass, same sub/amp. only played it a day or two, but i realized i was missing alot that i didn't know i was until i switched to an aftermarket hu. I am putting a very similar budget set up in a friends 2005 altima soon. single type r 12 , mb quart onx1.1000d amp. and was going with a loc , but probably will get the cheapest alpine under $100 that has ipod hook up to eliminate any problems with a loc. In that car i wouldn't spend anymore on another nicer loc, get the one you have to work the best you can , and later on when he can afford it put a decent hu in.

unhook rca's from amp first, see if you still get the interference from opening the door

if the loc has a gain, try turning it down, and the amp gain up

double check your ground has a clean bare metal contact, maybe try new location

also with a stock amplified system, the rear 6x9's may be high passed
