Factory radio no power - grounded antenna

2011 Nissan Xterra S with factory integrated, non Rockford Fosgate system. I was trying tohook up a Scosche FM modulator. The antenna connectors did not match up. I had attempted to order adapters but couldn't find the right setup. I decided to splice the antenna wire. Should work right? It's just an antenna. Wrong. No ground, no power on for the radio. I know I screwed up, but I jumped the gun. Any advice on how to overcome this stupidity other than a professional installer? We only have one here and he doesn't have the best rep.
