Subwoofer poping when car is on ever 5 seconds

Hey guys,

I recently bought a kenwood kfc-xw800f and a clarion apx1300 as a bundle for 60$ and went to the local store and got a wiring kit for my 2008 ve commodore and i wired it all up properly (i think) and went to turn it on and both blue and red lights are solid on the amp but there is a repetitive pop from the subwoofer every 5 seconds.

Suggestions?

It sounds like your amp is in protect mode, the red light shouldn't be on. When that light is on, it means something is wrong with the wiring. First, check your ground connection, make sure you have a good strong connection with the chassis of the car, if you feel inclined to, you can scrape off the paint where you drilled the hole so the connection is better. Next, check you power wire from the battery, to the fuse, and all the way to the amp and make sure all your wires are securely attached to the amp. If you own one, use a DMM across the power and ground on the amp to monitor the voltage as the sub is "popping". next, make sure you have your positive on the sub to the positive on the amp and the same for the for the negative. If you are still having problems, unplug all the wires and blow out the terminals on the amp. Attach the power, ground, and remote first, turn on the amp and make sure the red light doesn't turn on, if that passes, attach the speaker wires and RCA input/high level input and do another test.
