Factory HU removal (Toyota camry 97)

You can obtain instructions from this website for three bucks. Well worth it in my mind since the pieces you will probably break off trying to do it with no instructions will cost you more than three bucks.

Basically the trim piece around the radio unsnaps from the dash. Take a thin screw driver and pry on it until it snaps loose. Take out the ash tray and disconnect any wiring. Once the trim piece is pulled away, just unscrew the 4 bolts and pull out the radio, disconnect the wiring harness and antenna. Its really pretty darn simple..

Listen i swapped the hu on my 97 camry and rockman is right dont waste 3 bucks for instructions. just pry of the border trim slowly, its kinda strong so dont worry about breaking anything just make sure the clamps on the trim dont fall of or something. also when installing the new hu make sure you test fit the new hu bytightning the four screws a bit because the holes where the screws go have a little extra room so you may end up with a slightly uncentered hu if you dont.

just use a decent size screwsriver so it doesnt just bend the plastic
