alright one of my buddies swears on everything that no matter what 12, or 15 inch sub that he gets, it will get lower than any 10 inch sub that i can come up with (his exact words- i can get a $10 pyle sub to hit lower than a 10w7 *or any 10 inch sub that you can buy)...ive been reading and some people say its a misconseption and i dont believe that any 12'' sub will play lower...he said he wioll put money on it that he will go and get a sub from walmart and build a bandpass, and it will play extremely low and i can do the same with a 10''...ive been trying to explain to him why it isnt true but since hes been around car audio for like 8 years he is right...i just think its ignorant to go around saying that unless its true..if it is then ill admit im wrong but i dont think i am..

so does anyone know the facts about this, i wouldnt mind taking 20 bucks from him for proving him wrong, but im no audio expert so i would like to know from you guys why this is fact or fiction..

5% eq. 90% install and 5% of some other stuff

I've heard 6.5's (or was it an 8) that sounded like a 15. Check out some of the boxes these guys build on here and you will understand. I bet you could get a complex box built with a 10 that would destroy pretty much anything he got.

my buddy said that 10's were meant for highs, 12's were all around, 15s for low end excursion and 18s sound horrible..i just dont know any facts to ttell him otherwise

i had a buddy that worked for Rockford Corp, that took 4 of the HE6 subs, built a horn for them, and had them on some lightning 4 channel, sounded absolutely sick. He had them in an accord wagon.

Well you should have him put some 10's up front for the highs, the 12's for the mid and then the 15s for the bass (low end). Then have him go to some comps for SQ. I BET HE'D WIN!

all of the subs can play low lol. Install dependent and driver dependent of course. Tommyk90 hit a 150 with a 10" type R i would love to see your buddy even hit that number with 2 15's of his choice.

Well right now you are kind of helping him, if you build a system around advice on this forum you will easily be able to crush him in spl or Sq whichever you want to obtain.

yeah, ive been thinking about just buying subs just to have them but im gonna wait till i get the money i want to spend w/o feeling guilty and get something thats really gonna make me happy...i dont want to half *** it like everyone where i live
