Faceplates keep dying...... Please help.

I had an AIWA CDC-MP3 in my car since I bought it a few months back. All of a sudden, 2 days ago, the faceplate stopped working. I could tell it was just the detachable face because it would still let me pop CD's in and out. So I thought I might as well get a new head unit. So I went to best buy yesterday and had them put in a new unit. After driving around for a few hours, that faceplate died too!

So I started thinking of anything that could have been associated with this problem. I have a '94 Del Sol. I remembered that the day that the first face died, I had hit a bump and since then, the light for behind the A/C controls started to flicker (it hadn't ever worked before then). That light turns on with the headlights. And then when the face died yesterday, I noticed that it had died soon after dark when I turned on my headlights. Could this be associated? Is there anything I can do to repair the faceplates? I am gonna go back to best buy and have them replace the unit, but I want to know what is going on so I dont blow another faceplate. Any advice will be appreciated.

it could not be dead. check all your connections for the head unit. possibly not enough power going to your unit and thats why when you use more power (ie. turn on headlights) that your faceplate died. just check all connections.

Don't buy Aiwa stuff. In my opinion Aiwa makes junk. My mom used to have a home stereo of theirs, and the changer in it quit working after a couple of years. I used to have an 89 Tbird, and had one of their cd changers that I had gotten for Christmas one year in the trunk. About like a year later maybe? Under 2 anyway, the thing did not work anymore. I would definitely reccomend another company. Like Pioneer. Pioneer is not my favorite, but I do have a deh 1500 head unit in my current car, had it for a couple of years, bought it because of the price at the time, and it sounded ok, and again, the price. Money talks right? No problems with it, still sounds great, especially after redoing the custom eq stuff. So if you have that problem again, I'd reccomend something different than Aiwa. Pioneer or Alpine preferably.

Ask Best But if you can exchange this unit for another or get your money back.

Awia doesnt make the greatest things. It could be something wrong with your wiring in your car.

Maybe a short in the dash somewhere ?
