faceplate lighting problem

Ok guys i found an old alpine that i was looking for (Alpine 7892). However there is a small problem with it.

The faceplate lighting on the deck doesnt work sometimes. It will work but if I hit a bump or something it will go out. This is just the lighting on the buttons that does this, not the screen/display. If I hit another bump, or lightly smack the deck it will come back on.

Also on one side of the screen, it is kinda faded. Read-able, but not as bright as the other side of the screen. It is always like this.

Everything eles on the deck works just fine and as it should. Seems soild. I got it on the cheap from a friend b/c he bought an eclipse flip out. so am cool with the issued as everything eles works.

My question is, will a different faceplate solve this, or is it a problem within the deck that would need to be fixed? The unit is a alpine 7892.

anybody? can the bulbs (or whatever is used to light the buttons) in the faceplate have a lose connection or something?

Could be the connection were your face place meets the rest of your deck. If your faceplate is removable, then that could be your problem. Im not sure the best way to clean it off tho.
