F***ers still dimming!

This whole situation just pisses me off. I really want to find out what the F*** is going on. I took the time to swap the alt, upgrade the batt, and do the big 3 before I tossed the equipment in to avoid this, but sure enough, still boned on the deal.

Is the alternator installed on that TAHOE in your avatar? I have an 04 silverado with a 240 amp alternator. I have very very little dimming (only on tight punchy bass). How bad is the dimming you are seeing? and BTW my alt charges to 14.8 and drops to maybe 14.5...and yet I still have some dimming. what kind of voltage drops are you seeing and how severe is the dimming?

The voltage on the batt indicator on the dash does not drop below 14V (maybe just a hair), but the lights dim, even the dash lights dim during the day, with no drop in voltage on the dash indicator.

BTW: nine'1s have 120A each (wired at 1 Ohm) and the nince.4 has 50A. I know they are not going to pull that on a regular basis (or ever), but wanted to make sure all the info was out there.

edit: the dimming is pretty noticeable. What throws me is that the dash lights dim during the day if I have everything turned up.

You don't need a second battery..
If the ALT can't charge 1 what makes you think it will charge 2?

That's if the ALT is screwed up..

You do not need a second battery..

search this topic, there is always good arguments for both sides...

One way i looked at it is, ever look at guys with crazy installs...they have more than one battery and one alt and hit high numbers....just a thought

also your eye detcts light flashes on the order on 1/20th of a second...so your gonna notice that b4 your volt meter has a chanced to dip down...

I think you don't know what the fuk you are talking about

I suggest you STFU unless you can prove me wrong about the second battery..

Umm spare batts are great to have when the car is turned off to listen to music..

His car is dimming when he is driving when the ALT should be putting out its full potential, so there is basically no need for a battery which acts as a small buffer..

If the alt is not producing who gives a shit about how many batteries you have, they will all run dry with out the alt to charge them..

i dont see what the big deal is on dimming....if the system isnt gettin HUGE voltage drops, to the point of amp shutoff, then i dont see why its such a big deal.....its just bragging rights to me....like " yea my a mps draw soo much power that the dim my lights" to that effect.....

yes it should be done right, but is it really that bad??? NO imo
