Alright, just got everything installed:

250A alt

Yellowtop

2 ED nine.1's

1 ED nine.4

2 RE SX 12's

The big 3 is done, everything has secure ground connections, and I still have a pretty bad dimming problem. Any ideas on what to do next?

There is basically NO way you should be having dimming with that setup..

NONE! I ran the same ED amps on my Expy with my stock 135 alt and I barely had dimming..

You need to get your battery tested at Pep Boys along with your alt draw at both low and mid rpms..

if that alt is custom wound my guess is it doesn't start charging till high rpms, customers mustangs custom alt wouldn't charge till 3500-4000rpm

I was pretty **** irritated to see the dimming last night. Will Pep Boys run the test free? I might head over there today or tom. then and see what's up. Anything else someone wants to toss at the problem?

I believe ti is custom wound. I have a printout (not with me) of what it puts out at different RPM's. I think the RPM's listed on the sheet are for the alt and not the engine (if that makes sense)? What should I look for on the sheet to see what it is putting out?

Well then you def need to get your battery tested, I believe they do it for free at Pep Boys..

There is no way while driving you should be seeing dimming off that setup, noway... None Zero..

Autozone, NAPA, Pep Boys should test your alt. for free too

more batteries, so you have a 250 amp alt which is getting about 90-100 at idle...im guessing that the 9.1's draw about 80 each and the 9.4 draws about 50, and the car takes about 40 for stock stuff...so add it up and you get 250 so your 90-100 at idle is just not cutting it...more batts or a second alt...

I am not familiar with how to wire a second batt. I know you need an isolater and such, but do you know where there is a wiring diagram I could take a look at?

wire it in parallel with your other batt.

You don't need a second battery..

If the ALT can't charge 1 what makes you think it will charge 2?

That's if the ALT is screwed up..
