Extra receiver wires

I am replacing the cd receiver in my car and there are 2 wires, one red and one orange, that dont seem to serve a purpose. I have an alarm/keyless entry system in my car and I think those wires somehow connect to the receiver. Does anyone have any idea what these wires are for or how I can connect them to the receiver?

Thanks

Are you using a wiring harness? If you do, and it doesn't have those wires on it, they probably aren't that important. You can search for a wiring diagram for your car online. Not sure of any sites with any decent ones though. You could always go BUY one of those Hayes repair manuals from Auto Zone or the like. They have wiring diagrams in the back. Hope that helps...

WTF? Are the two wires on the receiver or coming from your car? What does it have to do with your alarm?? This is a confusing question. You HU will not connect to your alarm, I can almost guarantee that. The red is probably a power wire. They usually only use red for that purpose. Not sure about the orange, could be a dimmer wire if from the car, if it's on the HU harness it could be anything.

Some questions:

1. Where are the extra wires coming from?

2. What kind of car do you have?

3. What kind of HU did you get and do you have the installation manual?

4. Do you have the proper factory wiring harnesses for your vehicle?

5. Why do you think it has anything to do with your alarm.

Please give us more info if you want assistance!

1. The extra wires are coming form the car inside the dash, though, I cant tell exactly what they lead to.

2. 1995 Honda Civic DX

3. I dont know what kind of HU I have...

4. Yes, however I get no sound from the reciever yet I get display and functionality from it. Which leads me to believe these two wires have some meaning...

5. When I removed the old reciever those two wires were somehow attached to the receiver but in a strange way, and I had to cut them to take it out. Since that day the alarm and the keyless entry haven't worked.

I'm really just baffled by all of this, I don't really know all that much about car stereos and alarm systems so if anyone knows how this can be fixed or has any idea what is going on I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

HU = reciver ... so what kind of HU do you have ?

Sounds to me like they were powerng the alarm off of the stereo wires. It shouldn't have anything to do with the HU working. You probably don't have the speakers hooked up correctly is why you're not getting sound. Looks like someone did a ghetto install on it in the past and now your having to clean it up. Good luck trying to figure it out, seems as if you have your work cut out for you if you don't even know what a HU is.

This receiver worked in my other car (1988 Honda Accord)
Oh, I forgot to mention: the old receiver in this car worked fine, speakers are totally funcitonal and wiring is fine. The alarm system looked kind of old if maybe that has anything to do with it.

OK, I checked out the red wire to where it leads, and you are correct it goes directly to the alarm system. Now, how can I attach both wires to the harness?
