extra battery

I understand the premise that if you use a second battery and an isolator that the second battery runs the amplifiers, and the isoator seperates the rear battery from basically the rest of the cars electrical system thereby eliminating any diming. Now if you add asecond battery without running an isolator......what difference would adding the second battery make? Would it slow the rate of dimming? Or just take the strain off the front batery?

adds capacity, no voltage drop due to an isolater and also reduces the voltage drop from front to back

An isolator won't have any effect on dimming. It only prevents the batteries from interacting. The system will still tap out the alt, but the second battery will give it a bit of help.
