Extending 1/0 Gauge

first i would use silver solder over lead or 60/40 solder. It would help to make the connection even lower resistance. the reason a solder connection than a wire nut is because of surface area. with solder the solder fills in all the holes between the strands in the wire and is like having a solid wire. with the wire nut this is not true there are a lot of tiny gaps between the strands witch increases resistance. as for the lead affecting resistance in a solder joint it has a negligible affect as long as you solder it right and have the two wires touching each other. the solder is just there to hold them together and fill in the gaps.
