Well I have a viper 771xv and the alarm is great and the remote start is great but the unit doesnt always want to cooperate.

If im at home I can be about 200 feet away and it works like a champ

but if im at work I cant be more than 30 feet away.

I went to lunch today and tried it inside ,nothing, got closer to a window nothing.

Went out side nothing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif:verymad://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

Got about 10 feet from the car and it worked.

The antenna is placed about 6 inches from the top of the windsheild and about 3 inches from the side.

Does anyone know how long those wires are?

Where is the "best" place for these type of antennas.

btw I have no tint on the front windsheild.

I will take pics later

i do about 1-2 remote start's a day, (im a installer) i usually allways 99.9% of the time mount the antenna right under the rear view mirror. that way it is away from anything metal, roof, metal in the top of the windshield ect..

my 2-way works in any building up to 600 yards away.. i love it. (clarion sr6000)

well the new battery thing did nothing.

I guess I will see how much wire I have left.

Im pretty sure I have a good piece left.

So your saying behind the review mirror on the glass?

I think ill try that and see what happens

thanks

under the rear view mirror.. i butt my ant's right up against the bottom of the spot where the rear view is mounted to the window.

i had a omega mars 33, 2 way. and after a year my 2 way went bad and i had to order a new one.. the new one worked and still is like a champ!

I do a good amount of remote starts also, 4-6 a day //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif hehe

Anyways make sure the antenna wire is not bunched up, when I do them I push the excess up under the headliner towards the back of the car so that it isn't just bunched up.

Also as stated before the antenna for the dei two ways should be in the middle of the windshield below any sort of tint.

well I have a scion tc and it has two sunroofs.

I tried it on the rear one ,it does not move so the wire is not in danger of getting spliced.

I moved the antenna to the center of the windshiled below the rear view and its about the same.

I also tried it on the rear sunroof but im affriad that the tint will limit the range.

The range was about the same in both spots but it is way to cold to be messing with it.

Im pretty sure I will leave it on the sunroof since the range was about the same

drove up and down my road in a seperate car for the test lol

Please remeber I live way out and the blocks are very long

talk about haveing a long day... takes me an average of 2-4 hours depending on the car... and about 15-20 min bench prepping the system..

i'd love 4-6 cars a day.. due to me makeing only commision.. i make 100 per rem.start. 155 per rem.start/keyless, and 180 per rem.start/keyless/security.. plus parts and aditional labor

My shop is also comission. Right now I'm only at 40%... you guys charge some redic prices... wish we could get that. $70 for remote start install and $100 with keyless. We do alot of GM cars..

Usually takes me 10-15 to bench prep, then I'm usually out of the car in an hour to two hours depending on the car. We do alot of GM cars(being michigan)... chevy/gmc trucks are a 30min-45min job now.

word on that. i have done a few of them, my buddy is convinced that he can do one with his eyes closed for most of it. last year he installed a remote start on each of the 5 plow trucks for the guy he works for in an hour and 10 inside vehicle time.
