Now is this open to enclosures for drivers other than subwoofers... I'm thinking along the lines of of something from Fostex's BLH plans. What would really seperate the average people and the excellent craftsmen. If it is, I'll be willing to submit one of my walnut ones for the competition.

More than likely all of the enclosures are going to be built for one specific subwoofer. That way all of the enclosures can be judged on an even playing field.

For BEST looking box I think high quality digital pics will be fine, but if its close we can have the top 3 send in their boxes to judges..

for the other catagory. I am unsure, I need to think it over, I was mainly just looking for Coolest Looking functioning boxes..

I hope we can get 15+ people to enter, I am gonna need a roll call for people that are interested.

Far as judges I want to have 2 Mods Jntar and someone else and 5 other members..

All BOX builds must be Between May 22 and Aug 22 and include current local/metro newspapers in the building stages to show official dates...

Can I build somthing other than a sub woofer box. As earlier said, I would like to construct another Back Loaded Horn encosure for a 4" Fostex Full Range Driver and submit it.

Also a possible wood change to include all types of wood (including hard wood) up to the thickness of 1"?

Since I have the final say..

I am going to go with a format like this..

1. Unique/Cool/Badass Looking Box - Just something that looks completely insane or funny looking - Anything goes.

2. Craftsmanship/Build Quality - Perfect build all around from cuts, carpeting, painting, sealing - includes anything non-sub box related.

Winner of the #1 gets $150+ and 31" Trophy

Winner of #2 gets $75+ and a 22" Trophy

I haven't decided if I want 2nd and 3rd places or if I want Winners Take ALL!!

and the Winner of #1 cannot win #2, no exceptions!

Judges for #1 I have not chosen yet but it will also involve a CA.com Thread Poll, BUT only members from April 2006 should be allowed have thier vote counted. So we keep people from multiple voting.

Judges for #2 I have not picked yet. But will most likely ask the 3 top Box builders on the forum to help judge along with 3 others

Needs some fine tuning but those are the basic rules.

Hey just to let you all know sound domain forums did this a while ago, and i think they did it by classes- beginner, intermediate, professional, and fiberglass, there was lots of rules, and there had to be pictures from every step of the build. There were judges for each class who got sent the pics, plans, and final product pictures. I remember it went over pretty well, and subs were given out as prizes. Im gonna try and find the link........

Ok, I have a few questions for you.

1. Will the boxes be shipped back

i. If we desire them to be shipped back, I assume we are paying extra for them to be shipped back to us?

2. Will there be listening tests associated with the competition, will I have to enclose the drivers and that the box was constructed for?

That sucks...I would of loved to put some TCAB boxes up against regular old everyday boxes with a sub other than a type R...
