Best thang smokin'!
I've personally not had much experience with a lot of different brands/lines of subwoofers so I'm looking for some help here. I'm planning my next sub/amp combo since I'll have some money coming my way soon and I'd just like to know what you guys would say is on the same playing field as an Elemental Designs Kv.2. I'd like to take a step up from what I have right now so I want to make sure what I'm looking at is really an upgrade.

u could upgrade to the OV series. I know g33ofrey I believe has one and is really pleased with it. Im not sure what else to say because of that 400 x 1 limit u have. U might have to upgrade that amp. IDQs maybe with that power will be coo.

I'm looking to get a new amp also. I'm waiting to see if I got the job I wanted and how much money I'm getting for graduation. If I get enough, I'll be bumping my budget up more.

I was thinking something like a 12" RL-p and a Viper 600.1. I know the 600.1 might be underpowering it a bit but I would imagine that it should still work pretty well in a low tuned vented enclosure.

I've used quite a few subwoofers in the past...

I'd recommend anything over an eD woofer. Pyle et al. I would not spend $5 to support that company.

Otherwise, for the 150-200 price range (leaving 200-250 for the amplifier), I'd say You have alot of options. But are you looking for accuracy? output? what kind of music to go along with the low tuning?

Lets try to put the eD hating beside and focus here. I listen to a lot of rap music, sometimes rock. SQ is priority #1 but I do like the output available when I want it.

.... this is really immature. Get over it. eD products are good. The OV is a good sub. No reason to hate for dumb things or shit that has been settled already. eD also has great customer service.
