Exchange battery or new alt? 1000rms stock 80A alt

SInce my battery died over the weekend, I picked up the Duralast Gold group 35. It was a little stronger than my old stock battery. But Im running 1000rms off a stock 80A alternator. I still get bad dimming. Voltage drops to 11.5-11.9 full tilt. Only sllightly better than before but still lots of dimming.

Yes, big 3 done with 0 gauge.

Should I exchange my battery for say a Yellow top if they take it back. I'd have to order. I almost bought the Diehard platinum 35 but the terminal posts too high for my cables and not enough feedback on the forums.

Another option is 130A HO alternator from you know where for about 200.

I've also considered a batcap 800 or something in the rear. Or YT that is in stock which is normally a 34/78 or something for the rear.

hmm, weird. hope you didn't get stuck with some POS refurb'd battery.

I used to run 1060w with a 75A alt in a car that should have had a bigger alt anyway - big car w/a lot of elec accessories. I did have a big *** battery though. 900CCA or something like that.

It would sag to the low 12's at idle, but it held mid 13's with the rpm's up. When the alt died I replaced it with a 110A from the junkyard and it was a LOT stronger.

If you have the $$ maybe you could give the red top a try. Looks like it has another 80CA/110CCA.
