Aloha all!
I really need help if I should install this eq or not. The model eq I have is a Kenwood KGC-4032. The specs are below from crutchfield. I'm questioning whether or not this will make my system sound better. My deck right now pushes out 50watts x 4. However, this eq only pushes out 20watts x 2. If that's the case, why does the eq have wires for both front and rear when it only pushes out 20watts x 2? Can I still use it for both front and rear but only get 10watts x 4? That sucks!...I might as well keep the speakers on the deck if I'm understand the specs correctly. I should also mention that I don't have an additional amp to use so whatever the eq's built-in amp pushes out is what I'll have to deal with. I know that having an eq will make my system sound way better. What should I do? Should I not install the eq due to the fact that the eq's amp alone cannot push my speakers? Is buying an additional amp to power the speakers the only way I can make this eq work? Is there any way I can intergrate the decks amp and the eq's amp to power the speakers? Help me out guys, please! I need some help and guidance!
Specs per Crutchfield:
Kenwood combines 9 bands of equalization and a two-channel amplifier in the easy-to-mount, 1/2 DIN-size KGC-4032 equalizer/amp. Connect to your receiver to the KGC-4032's set of preamp inputs, and get one set of speaker outputs (20 watts RMS x 2) and one set of preamp outputs (to connect to an external amp). It's a great way to get more power out of your older, high-performance, low-powered receiver.
Details:
nine bands of equalization (+/-12 dB at 50/120/250/500/1000/2000/4000/8000/16000 Hz)
internal amp (20 watts RMS/40 peak x 2)
one set preamp inputs/outputs, one set of speaker outputs
amber illumination.
signal-to-noise ratio 100 dB
THD 0.03%
7-1/8"W x 1-1/16"H x 6-7/16"D
