hi benjames, hats up for such a detailed explanation and now my problem ,i have 8650mp and lately it has started to give me a freaking problem ,when i press eject nothing happens there is just a beep but after some time or even after a day it starts working fine. Have u ever had this problem and what is the solution for it. My hu doesnt have warranty so i have to deal with the prob myself.

Sorry!!! I should check on this forum more often...

Weird... I've never had that problem. The only problem I had with the CD mechanism was when I had been away for a while, and the CD had trouble ejecting. After a couple of failed attempts, it started to work fine again and has done for the last couple of months.

The Cd mech draws a large amount of current. Maybe there is a loose connection in the power wire? The only other thing it could be is the mechanics of the CD ejecting mechanism. With mine, I assumed that the mech had been sitting for a while, and the (white viscous) lubricant had dried along the ejector rail.

If you have been listeneing to the same cd for a while, then it's possible that the lubricant has dried, or become "gunky" along the CD ejector mechanism. I know from experience that it's easy to go 3-4 weeks with the same cd if its in mp3 format, or you use a stacker most of the time. I've had the same cd in mine now for over a month!!! I mean, I've got like 8 albums of music on one cd, so there aiin't a reason to change it often...

My suggestion is to load and unload a cd a few times, then (if you can remember) try to load and unload a cd maybe once or twice a week.. This should keep it lubricated enough. I'd do this more often if you are in colder climates.

If it still has problems, then it may have an object stuck in the ejector mechanism, which is causing intermittent problems, and it will have to be opened up and looked at by yourself (if you dare!!!) or an installer. I'll cost about $20 in labour to have the unit opened up and serviced by a Pioneer tech (if the head unit is already removed)

The H.U. beeping tells me it may be an electrical issue... I know that the pioneer decks have good protection circuits for the speaker outputs, but I honestly don't know if there is also a protection for the cd mech. In theory, if the power wire was loose, this could cause an interuption to the current needed to operate the CD mech, and a protection circuit may stop the operation from continuing... But you'd think that you would notice other problems as well, such as the display dimming, or distortion from the speaker outputs... so dunno..
