Sounds like it might be time to look at the amp. And considering you were working on the main power line when the problem started in could be an issue. Do you have an amp you can swap in? Probably not or you would have done that right? How about a friend with a system. you could run RCAs from your car to his amp. If the noise doesn't show up in his car run the cables from his car to your amp and listen for the noise in your car. That should tell you if the problem is in the head unit and cables or in the amp. You can pick up a set of female to female RCA connectors at Radio Shack or Wal-Mart that would make testing things pretty simple if you have a spare RCA cable laying around.

thanks for all the help guys, i finally looked where i didnt want to...the amp. It works properly but it was the source of my engine whine. what causes an amp to make grn noise? is it cheap to fix? Its a MTX road thinder rt2400x

I guess i will just sell it, how much is it worth?
