Okay i just now installed my RE SX 12, and the box came out perfect as far as holes and such... but i started testing it to see how it acts and im not sure wether or not i like it. The box is approx 4 cubes and tuned to about 30hz, probably lower after the driver is put in. Its REALLY loud on the low end, but im not sure how to put it, but im not sure if i like it yet. Of course i dont have my mids or highs in place yet so i cant reference it, but i was playin a bass tester and my mom said some ofthe light fixtures in the house were vibrating (lol). Ill get pics of the setup too btw. Anyways i want to improve the SQ a lil bit. I believe that would mean taking some of the volume of the box out, which im fine with, but how do i do it? any suggestions would be great.

i had the same deal with my diamond, it sure tuned it to 27.5 hz, but it was +3 db at 27.5 hz and above that dipped under +0db and slowly recovered...hadda redo the whole enlosure. if possible, put everything on a chart to see what it looks like

Well, you went from having some subs with nice sound quality to a sub that was mainly meant to get loud. Not that they sound bad or anything, but that is their primary purpose. And having a 4 cubic foot enclosure tuned to 30hz is going to mean some pretty mean low end but also some hefty group delay around tuning. If you're not used to the low-end, it can be overwhelming at first. Listen to some rock music and see how it sounds with that.

Adding a second sx will increase output and should take away from the boomy sound that the single sx has.

Okay i went outside today to go mess a lil bit with my box and see if there was anything i could tell was wrong with the way it was designed. Started playin around with some different songs, amd while playin three six mafia - late nite tip, i noticed that my box's baffle flexes... like a gymnast! So im thinking that if i put another 1/2" or 3/4" piece of MDF, glued and screwed onto the existing baffle, with the holes cut bigger for a recessed mount type of thing? Also, i have some dowels layin around, so i think ill use some to brace it up a bit... or use a few 1/2" MDF plates here and there.

... okay, so let me get this straight for future reference. When your box flexes more than it should, it makes he output sound not as good? Kind of like distortion of door speakers pre-deadening? So what i need to do is brace up my box, using a thicker top baffle and possibly dowel rods or mdf braces?
