If a calc is ran and it says you need a 4" x 11" port can you use variations of the suggested size, say like two 2"x 11" or two 4" x 5.5"?

No. If you use more than 1 port, divide the volume of the box by the number of ports then calculate using that number with the size (cross sectional area) of the port you intend on using. You can use different sizes of cross sectional area but the length will change.
